General items
- Held prior to the start of the season to validate the numbers of teams necessary for the upcoming season. An estimate will be used to determine the initial budget; however the actual number of registered players will ultimately determine the number of teams fielded.
- Players must be registered at time of evaluation. All players must check in upon arrival to verify this and ensure all necessary information has been obtained. Registration forms will be available at check in or on-line at www.findlayhockey.com. Additionally, all players must register online with USA Hockey at www.usahockey.com. The player’s confirmation number can be brought to evaluations with the other forms or emailed to dcsjbw91@aol.comprior to evaluations.
- A Tryout Fee must be paid in advance. Bantam $30, PeeWee $30, and Squirt $30. Exceptions with regard to the collection can be granted on an individual basis but must be paid prior to the second tryout.
- A Commitment Fee of $100 must be paid in advance This payment will be applied towards ice fees if a player is selected for a team. If a player is not selected for a team the payment can be applied towards ice fees for another FAHA team or refunded. Exceptions with regard to the collection can be granted on an individual basis but it must be paid prior to the second tryout.
- The Mite and Mini Mite divisions will not have formal evaluations. ADM will be followed in those divisions. Teams will be divided before the season begins.
- Evaluation date and times will be communicated via the Face Off, website and preseason registration advertisements (optional).
Evaluators have been determined by the Director of Hockey and approved by the board. The goal is to have 3 evaluators per division including The Director of Hockey, the Coach, and one or more independent evaluators. There will be a broad group of evaluators conducting the evaluations.
- On-Ice Select/Travel Tryout Coordinators will be selected by The Director of Hockey.
- Tryouts may be closed. This will be determined by the Director of Hockey prior to each tryout, if so only Evaluators and Coordinators will be allowed to participate and/or view the tryouts.
- Tryouts will utilize a blind evaluation process. Evaluators will rate players based on the numbered pennies they are wearing and will not be provided the players name and other demographics.
- Players are expected to attend each evaluation. Players should make at least 2 of the 3 evaluation sessions. Please contact the Director of Hockey (Keith Williams) if circumstances do not allow this to occur.
- Team Rosters will be posted on the website and /or communicated via e-mail within 14-21 days of the final tryout.
- The Director of Hockey (Paul Kett) will have final say in any issues that arise during the Tryout process.

Tournament Record: 3-1-2
A huge thanks to all who made this tournament possible: Lu Draper & Staff at The Cube, AR Marketing, Jim’s Trophies, Dave and Chris Woodward, ALL the volunteers who recruited, organized and coordinated the tourney and to all the parents who helped out at the rink this weekend! A special thanks to City Apparel for great sweatshirts & apparel and to our tournament Sponsor- Ohio Logistics!!!!
The tournament was a big success with fun had by all. The teams were well matched with great competition. A highlight of the weekend was the Skills Competition held on Saturday night. Players participated in a Breakaway Challenge, Hardest Shot, Fastest Skater (Second place to FAHA’s Parker Fetterman), and Skating/stickhandling obstacle (won by FAHA’s Kevin Kuhn).
Weldy Olson also came out with his Olympic Medals to hand out awards at the Skills Competition and for the Championship game. What an honor to have him at the rink talking to the skaters. Thanks Weldy!
Here are a few of our Mites and siblings just hanging out with Spike (the Walleye Mascot) after the Walleye Jamboree! The Mites participated in a Jamboree at the Huntington Center then stayed to cheer on the Walleye!
We would like to say a special Thank You to our friends at City Apparel & Go Grow Strategies, Inc. for developing our new site. The time and effort has truely paid off, and we at FAHA are very appreciative of their hard work and generosity!
Ignite The Ice 2!
Columbus Blue Jacket Day!
Great time had by all with the CBJ in Findlay Ohio! We had an on ice clinic with the CBJ, distributed equipment to over 30 Initiation Program participants and had a great day on the ice!
And Findlay resident, Weldy Olsen was also at The Cube with his Olympic Medals. Weldon “Weldy” Olson is an American ice hockey player won a silver medal at the 1956 Winter Olympics and a gold medal at the 1960 Winter Olympics. Thanks for being a part of our day Weldy!
